Futurebrite

Messy endings can make for beautiful beginnings. Living in NYC and in the midst of a transition with her indie rock trio Demander, Karen Kanan Corrêa was offered a touring gig with Swedish Grammi Award winner Moneybrother. One month on the road turned into six months, an indefinite hiatus for her band, and goodbye to her fifth floor walkup on the Lower East Side. Adrift and inspired, she found a new voice during songwriting stints in Portland and London, channeling an open heart into freshly vital songs. Equal parts chaos, darkness, and utter joy, she released this new solo experiment under the name Futurebrite.

The first EP, Carinae, combines live performance, electronics, and chamber music with dancehall and hip hop production and established Futurebrite as one of NYC’s “Best Emerging Electronic Bands” (Deli Magazine). After a move to Oakland, CA, she wrote and released the follow up EP, Ah La La.

Futurebrite’s “sexy, urgent pop songs” (East Bay Express) found placements on HBO and FX and with campaigns for Oracle and Marella.
